Along with providing general healthcare the clinic focuses on the treatment of thousands of hiv patients living in and around the community ensuring they have access to high quality and free medical care in the decade since the hiv program started hiv prevalence in zimbabwe has reduced from over 30 percent at its peak in 2000 to 15 percent. The study explores the lives of children growing up hiv positive in the eastern zimbabwean town of mutare at a time of severe crisis in the state marked by impoverishment organized violence and mass death this ethnography grew out of a psychotherapeutic engagement with a group of children living with hiv. Theres a new generation of zimbabweans growing up without hiv we believe that zimbabwe is on track to achieve near elimination of mother to child transmission of hiv defined by a transmission rate below 5 by the end of 2015. The key messages in the film were identified through a discussion held with young people living with hiv staff and counsellors on the research programme these discussions were followed up with more than 50 interviews with hiv positive young people in harare. Hiv positive patients the last situation is critical but it is not an unusual day for alice who is msfs project coordinator at the epworth clinic the facility is located in the outskirts of harare zimbabwes capital my typical day at epworth is busy says alice you never know whats going to come up
